Stennack Farm Beth and Jonny

A barn wedding

Having always wanted a barn wedding, the search for their perfect venue was focused! Knowing exactly what they wanted possibly made planning a little easier. Their search term was 'wedding barns in Cornwall' after seeing a few barn venues, all with their pros and cons but not quite perfect, they planned a visit to Stennack Farm, a venue found by Beth's mum!

"It was exactly what we were looking for. I think we both just knew that this was where we were going to get married, and that was it."

Unfold Photography

Beth and Jonny are not big on having their photo taken, so a photographer that didn't make them pose, make them feel awkward or stage unnatural situations was what they wanted.

"Huw's photography style is precisely that - natural and candid wedding photography - and we knew that he would capture the fun, the laughter, and the genuine reactions of our big day. He just has an eye for all of those lovely moments of the day that sometimes you don't even notice yourself."

LESS IS MORE

They held onto the saying that "less is more" throughout the whole wedding planning process. From Beth's beautiful dress to their venue decor, everything just had a simple but elegant feel.

"We didn't want to focus on the 'material' things of the day and, after the year and a half we've all had with COVID, we were just so excited to celebrate our day with all our family and friends and have a good laugh."

The Wedding feast

Something light for a summer wedding, what better than wedding canapes and tapas! Kerra's Catering 8-piece Tapas buffet was perfect for their relaxed day! On the menu (this will make your mouth water) duck, hoisin, spring onion and cucumber wraps, roast beef, watercress and horseradish rolls, lettuce cradles of poached chicken and salsa, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, crab and rocket tartlets, asparagus and Cornish blue cheese quiche, mini herbed scones with Cornish brie and chutney and mixed bruschetta topped with fresh tomato salsa, basil, artichoke, and mozzarella.

And for dessert...

White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, chef's profiteroles with fresh cream and chocolate sauce, apple tart with vanilla pouring cream

"All in all, Kerra and her team were amazing. Not only on the day but on the lead up to our big day too. Happy to accommodate for our guests that had dietary requirements too."

A wedding ceilidh. It's the way to go!

"If you want to have all your guests in absolute stitches and get everyone up dancing (and I mean everyone because even my dad, who usually refuses to dance, got up!) then a ceilidh band is the way to go!"

Beth and Jonny chose The Ceilidh Tree, and they were exceptional - flexible, accommodating and responsive, during the planning and then amazing entertainment on the day. They cannot rave about this band enough, and whenever their wedding is mentioned by any of their guests, the ceilidh band is one of the first things to come up and laugh about!

"Any excuse to book a ceilidh, you best believe that we're booking The Ceilidh Tree!"

The dress

Beth did not see herself in the dress that she ended up wearing.

"I had always imagined myself in something with lots of lace, sleeves and a high neck. But when at The Bridal Studio in Helston, Tara completely changed my mind when she showed me the most simple but beautiful wedding gown! Tara also suggested adding a thin, elegant pearl belt which was sewn on beautifully by seamstress June."

Accessories

Conforming to their theme of simplicity, Beth accessorised with her Tiffany & Co. necklace and bracelet set that her parents bought for her on her 18th birthday.

The groom

Jonny wore a grey, textured suit and (as he doesn't really like normal ties but loves a bow tie) a navy bow tie!

Favourite part

This is answered with no hesitation: the ceilidh band! If we could re-live one thing of that day, it would definitely be that!

top tips

"There was a point in the day where Jonny and I grabbed a bottle of Prosecco and just wandered the grounds with our photographer, Huw, to take some couple photos. We would definitely recommend this, as it was so nice to reconvene and have a laugh together! Also...book a ceilidh - you won't regret it!"
