St Michaels Hotel Sophie and Alan

A church wedding 5-minutes from home!

Sophie and Alan married in a beautiful little church in St Allen, the church is only a 5-minute drive from Sophie's family home.

They chose St Michaels Hotel A Hotel with the perfect views

Sophie and Alan love Falmouth and knew from day one that they would have their wedding reception in Falmouth. After looking around other venues they decided that St Michaels Hotel and Spa was the one for them.

"We both loved the beautiful gardens overlooking Gyllyngvase beach, and the regatta suite where our reception was held has lovely big windows which overlook the gardens and out to sea."

Sophie and Alan chose Helen Barnecutt Photography, Helen is a very close family friend and has taken photographs of Sophie since she was a child.

"Helen lives in the same village as us and is always on hand for us to talk to if we needed her. We discussed our requirements with Helen and told her we wanted natural photos which Helen was happy to do as well as other requirements and fun shots which we discussed"

The Wedding Flowers

Anna from Wedding Flowers in Cornwall was selected for the beautiful wedding flowers Sophie grew up with Anna and has always followed her wonderful work.

"Anna at Wedding flowers in Cornwall is amazing on my first appointment with her we were both excited. I had told Anna that I wanted to be different and all the ideas I put forward Anna was so happy to make.

I had no idea about flowers and only told her the colour choices I wanted we looked through her portfolio and Anna advised me which flowers to have all of which were great choices"

The Dress. The Twirl Appointment!

Ladies this is the moment when you get to try on your dress for the first time! A dress you have been waiting for, for months and you are going to twirl!

During Sophie's Twirl Appointment she had already decided that she didn’t want a veil, instead, she chose a beautiful headpiece

"I chose a beautiful vintage headpiece from Twilight designs I couldn’t wait to wear it on the day it was perfect with my dress"

When it came to choosing her dress the dress Sophie chose was not something she could see herself in.

"I’m not a sparkly kind of girl, but when I tried this dress on Luella by Maggie Sottero and I knew it was perfect.

All Italian lace with sequins that sparkled when I moved. I also knew it wasn’t something my soon to be husband would have chosen for me but knew he would love it too.

It was perfect. Once I put it in on, on my wedding day I just knew I wouldn’t want to take it off and I was right!"

Favourite part of the day

Sophie is a very organised person who likes everything to be in its place and perfect. On arrival at their reception at St Michaels Hotel, the newlyweds were greeted by Amy their Wedding Co-ordinator, Amy took them to the Regatta Suite, a room that the wedding team had worked hard to decorate.

"I cried, it was everything I ever dreamed of. Just perfect.

This was also when we got to see our cake, my new husband Alan said it’s brilliant Monica has done a fantastic job!"
