Getting married is amazing...

I did it! I got married. I'm now so jealous of all you lucky brides and grooms to be! You still have the day ahead of you. Getting married is amazing...

Our approach to planning was quite laid back.

For many years Marie helped run the family wedding venue business so she was able to put all her local knowledge to good use which of course made it much easier.

"I knew exactly how I wanted the day to be and because I married at home (we still had a wedding license) I knew the suppliers I wanted too. Luckily, Kellie my now wonderful wife also loved the vision (really I wasn't a control freak...) and was more than happy for me to plan happy in the knowledge that everything was being taken care of"

The one thing Marie did not have any involvement in was what Kellie was wearing!

"As a couple, we stuck to some traditions I was not allowed to see Kellie's beautiful dress until the day. Kellie chose a stunning dress from Lowen Bridal and she looked amazing. WOW!"

The dress length needed altering and so Kellie went to Beats Sewing Room. Beatrice is an expert seamstress.

Three photographers!? There can only be one Enchanted Brides Photography

"We do all go through some crazy moments when planning and my moment was to have three different photographers to photograph our day! Expensive! Crazy! It didn't happen.

The photography of the day was of utmost importance to us so I cannot tell you how happy we were to find, meet and then be able to book Enchanted Brides Jo was amazing!"

Twigs and Greens was our florist. I saw some succulent buttonholes from a wedding I have posted on eeek! and just loved them. Plus succulents can be saved and replanted to live again...something wonderful to keep after the day.

Absolute Canvas provided the marquee extension to our reception along with the large tables, chairs, and bar. I selected Absolute Canvas because this is a marquee company that we recommended when we were a wedding venue, they knew the barn and we knew that they do a great job going above and beyond for their couples.

Our entertainment was a Jukebox and it was brilliant, the tunes were selected by our guests and everyone had a great time...the tunes did not stop!

Wedding Styling and decorations we hired props from Decor Hire in Cornwall and my surprise for Kellie was our names in lights! OK only our initials in lights from Say it with Lights.

My planning top tip would be is ask...if you have a question for a supplier...just ask!

if your wedding caterer offers a menu tasting do it!

Plan a menu tasting day - on the day you may not have an appetite!
