"Hendra Barns! We never knew what we were missing"
Emily and James were open to ideas and style of venue for their day, living close to Hendra Barns they decided to arrange a viewing.
"We never knew what we were missing. As soon as we pulled down the beautiful drive, we didn’t want to leave without having booked Hendra Barns for our special day.
Maggie made the decision 100 times easier, being so friendly and lovely I knew she was going to be a massive help in making our day just how we wanted it. I loved the idea of making our wedding a whole weekend surrounded by our family and friends. The venue ticked every single box and there and then we decided to go ahead with Hendra."
Tom Robinson Photography
Photography was very important for Emily and James and they wanted a photographer who would capture the memories of the day.
"Unfortunately our wedding was one that was affected by COVID, meaning everything I had planned had to change. We came across Tom Robinson Photography and I fell in love with his work. I love the idea of casual shots, nothing too posed just natural laughter and love. COVID did make things a little more stressful butTom put us at ease and certainly had the humour and friendless you need!"
Theme Tiffany Blue!
"I think my husband would agree I took over when it came to the theme, I always knew I wanted to have bright Tiffany blue everywhere! The theme worked perfectly with the beautiful arbour my bridesmaids looked amazing in their dresses and the beautiful summer weather."
Due to COVID, the only suppliers were Cornish Farm Flowers who created Emily's beautiful bouquet, Tom Robinson Photography and for their feast The Foxs Revenge.
"Everything else such as the cake was made by my amazing mother and the decorations were selected by me and Maggie and Maggie very kindly decorated the venue perfectly!!
The Foxs Revenge
With restrictions limiting their day to 30 guests for the wedding and reception, their original wedding plans had to change.
"I'm a lover of casual dining, we had the most amazing BBQ buffet locally at The Fox’s Revenge with a few drinks in their beautiful tipi outside! It was a last-minute decision, but it felt so organised and like it was meant to be. The food was absolutely amazing and there was so much of it, from pulled pork baps, halloumi straight off the BBQ to chicken wings and more."
The Dress
Emily found her perfect dress at Prudence Gowns in Plymouth, Essence of Australia.
"I always knew the style of dress I wanted but was never sure if it would look right on me. I planned a trip to Plymouth with my mum and was adamant I wouldn’t try the style I wanted first as didn’t want it to be the first one I fall in love with!
So my dress was the second one I had tried and knew as I just couldn’t wait to put it back on after trying 15 more! I had to get it.
COVID made a really hard decision if I should wear it this year or save it when I can have all my guests at my wedding. But what bride doesn’t wish she could wear her dress twice, so that’s what I did."
The Groom
"My husband wore a gorgeous navy suit from Moss Bros. And of course, he had to be wearing a bright Tiffany blue tie to match!"
Favourite part of the day
"My favourite part of the day definitely had to be walking down the aisle and seeing my husbands face. It was so special and I couldn’t wait. My husband said the exact same thing!"
Advice
"My advice to anyone is don’t make it stressful. I absolutely loved planning my wedding, everything was just so enjoyable and when you get to your actual wedding day you know it’s all worth it.
With COVID, my advice is don’t stop your dream day just because you may not be able to have everyone with you in that moment, the most important thing is the reason why you’re getting married! We are simply going to have a massive party with all of our guests once this time has passed and who doesn’t love a double celebration."
