Hedgerow Huts Shanna and Sam

Travelling in style with O'Conners Campers

Shanna and Sam were married at St Neot Methodist chapel and then headed off in style in a split-screen camper van from O'Conners Campers to their beautiful marquee reception at Hedgerow Huts, Liskeard.

They treated their family and friends to afternoon tea and drinks on haybales whilst the Groom and his band CROSS provided some live entertainment. A hog roast was served in the evening as the sunset went down.

Shanna is a recent Film graduate, and the Groom a freelance musician, from the very beginning of their engagement they knew a budget wedding would be on their agenda, but regardless of this, they both had a clear vision of their day.

Hedgerow Huts

Many guests camped at the venue the entire weekend and the bridesmaids had full use of cute glamping huts with spectacular views.

"We wanted to include our Cornish upbringing into the atmosphere, from getting married at a quaint countryside Methodist Chapel, and a rustic Cornish country reception. This is why Hedgerow Huts (a glamping and camping site) with its breathtaking view of the Looe Valley, just moments away from where we both grew up in Liskeard, was the perfect place!

Most importantly we aimed for a day which reflected us as a couple, an intimate day that would be incredibly laid back, rustic, creative and a little bit different.

Sara and Tim, the owners of Hedgerow Huts provided the perfect budget-friendly wedding, taking the pressure off us by crafting a personalised quote from a checklist given to them of our dream wedding day, every detail was taken care of from the chairs we wanted to the food. Sara and Tim also left it up to us to decorate the marquee, (along with a helping hand) for us this was perfect, as adding our own touch to the décor was part of the preparation fun, allowing us to mould the exact style we wanted."

Arianna Fenton Photography

The couple spent quite a long time researching into local photographers, they had a particular vision of how they wanted their photos to be and stumbled across Arianna's website and immediately knew that she was the photographer for them!

"It was clear by looking at Arianna's work that she captures beautiful candid moments of the day, this was a particular element we desired in our photos, very often the photos you don't expect to be taken do become the most treasured memory of the day.

Because of our venue being a very wild and raw location we also sought a photographer who could embrace their surroundings, we could clearly see that Arianna was the right woman for the job, and she really did exceed all our expectations, using her imagination to capture the personality of the location and as well as us as a couple."

The Wedding Planning

One of the massive pros to booking a wedding through Hedgerow Huts is that the owners do all the hard work!

"The suppliers for the marquee, afternoon tea, chairs, tables, and Hog Roast were sorted for us meaning we had much less to worry about while writing dissertations and gigging each night. All the suppliers were local, which put us much more at ease, knowing that Tapendes who supplied the afternoon tea would be accommodating to dietary requirements and due to its amazing reputation around the town, would provide delicious homemade food.

The Father of the Bride skilfully made all the flower arrangements for the day, using flowers from family and friend's gardens which really added that personal touch. The evening Vegan and GF food to accompany the hog roast was supplied by Liskerret Community centre vegetarian Cafe chef, Cathy, and the Wedding bar was built by the Grooms Grandad.

The suppliers for hair and make-up were local, selected through word-of-mouth recommendation but looking at their social media galleries was an important factor in checking they could provide exactly what we wanted."

The Dress

Shanna bought her wedding dress online from Jjs House! GASP!!

"Despite taking the risk of it being from online, it fit like a glove, the quality of the material was amazing and I felt like a Hollywood movie star for the day!"

Ladies, we really do not recommend this approach there are so many wonderful bridal boutiques across Cornwall that will provide you with invaluable help and tips when selecting the perfect wedding dress for your big day. We are delighted that for Shanna on this occasion all was perfect! "PHEW!"

favourite part of the day

"Our favourite part of the day, was just after we had finished our part of the first dance, inviting our guests to join us on the dance floor, we looked around to see our friends and family having their own private moment with the one they love most."

Top Tip for brides

"Take a moment for yourself! The morning preparation can feel quite overwhelming, after hair, make-up, getting excited with the bridal party, I was pleased to have a moment alone to look at myself in my wedding dress, taking in possibly truly for the first time that today was the day I had been waiting for."

Top Tip for grooms

"Be prepared to wear your heart on your sleeve! You're going to feel a mixed bag of emotions on your wedding day, so just be open to expressing all of them!"
