Boconnoc Estate Susannah and Saul

“It truly felt like for that weekend the house was part of our family. Both truly elegant and with nature playing a role."

Boconnoc Estate Susannah and Saul

the beauty and history of England (Cornwall)

Susannah grew up in Cornwall, close to the Boconnoc Estate with many of their guests from different countries, both thought that Boconnoc was the perfect venue to show the beauty and history of England - a beauty their guests would appreciate.

Choosing Boconnoc also meant that everything was all in one place, which really aided the flow of their day.

“It truly felt like for that weekend the house was part of our family. Both truly elegant and with nature playing a role. We had had a mingle the day before, which many of the guests had joined in being a very ideal preamble for the big day.”

The dress

“It was like me, a bit different, but very classical, slim-fitting, elegant, with a lot of sparkle.”

Created by designer Demetrios and purchased from the same shop as Susannah’s sister-in-law, Alegria Bridal in Miami, Florida.

“All the dresses that I tried on looked lovely, but this was the one that the veil was brought out and I tried it on together with the dress. The ladies in the bridal boutique know their jobs to perfection. If you blow them away with how it looks, you know it is the right one."

Susannah’s top tip is to be open, trust in the process and believe the views of the professionals, they have seen thousands of would-be brides and know what suits each and every shape, taking into account personal style.

“I tried twelve dresses - there was just one that was an outright no and three very strong contenders vying for the Number one slot. However, only one had the veil added.”

accessories

Susannah had a cathedral length veil, purchased with the wedding dress. Diamond and blue sapphire earrings loaned to her by her mother in law, the same earrings worn by her sister in law at her wedding. Susannah also wore her grandmothers diamond engagement ring, which was also her mother’s engagement ring. Hairpins loaned to her by her sister in law the same hairpins she had worn at her wedding and finally an emerald pendant, a gift from Saul.

“I kept the dress on for the whole day. When I tried it on in the store, it said I am ready for sparkling on the dance floor!”

The Cornish Celebrants

Susannah and Saul chose to have a personal ceremony and chose The Cornish Celebrants.

"Made us feel like old friends who knew us well"

An Art Deco Day

As a symbol of their international lives, they chose to have flags hanging outside reminding them of endless possibilities!

Susannah and Saul met at Claridge’s when they were both visiting London.

“The decoration in Claridge’s will always be a part of our memories, and as such, we thought about the idea to keep in mind a style resembling this day, for the overall theme of our special day. Therefore, we choose an Art Deco theme. The prevalent scheme colours were green, gold and cream.“

Peboryon

“A cake for a special occasion must be that… special.”

Boconnoc recommended Peboryon and after looking at their website, Susannah and Saul were very interested so made that all-important call.

“When we made our first phone call we were impressed by the sense of belonging to the event, our wedding. We knew Peboryon was the one.”

After exchanging many ideas with Christine at Perboyn Susannah and Saul requested a 1920’s themed cake, describing how they met at Claridge’s.

“We were blessed as art deco is one of Christine’s passions, so a number of cake designs were drafted for us to pick from. We then chose elements from each to create the final design."

Both were delighted the cake was a vivid example of a coherent decorative touch for their Art Deco theme.

Nick Walker Photography

Boconnoc sent Susannah and Saul a list of recommended suppliers and Nick Walker Photography was one of their recommended photographer’s.

“We had looked at the photo galleries of each, and Nick Walker’s photography had really stood out, he seemed to be able to capture not just the photos but the emotions as well.

We were so excited to receive the pictures when they arrived and were delighted with the results. It has been tough to pick the favourites, as they are all incredible, and to us reward winning.”

Being surrounded all weekend by their many great friends and their nearest and dearest really made their day perfect but special mentions must go to Saúl's sisters and brother, Deliana, Geraldine and Carlos Enrique and his mother Carmen, Susannah's mother Paddy and their pageboys Gabriel and Alexander, flower girl Elizabeth, bridesmaids Daniela and Rachel, the best man, Lars, and Susannah's brother Piran.
