Amy and Richard’s Intimate Wedding
Amy and Richard discovered their venue, purely by chance
It happened during an evening of creative ‘Googling’ back in 2015 - little did they know then the huge role this beautiful Cornish oasis would play in their adventure together!
Our venue didn't need a theme, it has a vibe all of its own!
Located off the beaten track, surrounded by breathtaking coastal scenery, beautiful beaches, picturesque fishing villages and country footpaths.
Blending bold colours and unique spaces with elegant, boutique luxury, it emits a seriously romantic atmosphere and lends itself perfectly to a unique, relaxed and laid-back special day.

"The lovely hosts have created a magical, boutique retreat, perfect for sharing (and creating) magical moments. Upon arrival, it really was love at first sight.
We had never previously spoken of marriage (and had certainly never considered the idea of an ‘elopement’), but whilst enjoying dinner in "the Shack” (with a bottle of wine from the vineyard located literally next door), we decided that should we get married, we would return to their Cornish oasis to do it - an intimate and utterly unique venue for a Cornish elopement with our nearest and dearest and a place we could enjoy our day, our way!
We revisited in 2017, engaged, and realised that our views hadn’t changed at all. Needless to say, we settled on a date and paid our deposit immediately!"
Ben Selway Photography
Amy and Richard loved his work and arranged to meet for a coffee in Truro and the rest is history!
"Whilst the quality and style of the photographs is paramount, it was important to us to have a photographer who we got on with and who could integrate seamlessly into our intimate, Cornish elopement. Ben was that person… and so much more! His unique style, complete ease behind the camera and all round lovely nature made him the perfect choice."
Their wedding suppliers were perfect - they couldn’t choose any one supplier over another as everybody involved with their day went above and beyond to make it truly special. Amy loved her makeup by Jennifer from Cornwall Hair Stylist & Makeup Artist. Each supplier simply stood out in their own way.

Small and Intimate Weddings
The dress!
Amy's dress was by Maggie Sottero, she visited a few bridal shops and tried on several options, but there was only one clear winner.
"As soon as I put it on it felt special and I knew from both my mum and sister's reaction that it was 'the dress'!
Overall, I felt it had a ‘boho' vibe and was perfect for the intimate ceremony we were planning at Lower Barns. The lace and detail on the back was so different to any other dress I had seen and I had so many compliments about it."
Amy chose to keep her accessories simple. The dress had a ribbon of beads and pearls across the back so she chose a pearl hair vine from Etsy Her Mum bought her a pearl bracelet from Thomas Sabo and her bridesmaids bought her some pearl earrings from Pandora.
The Groom
The groom wore a ‘fishy’ pocket square by Paul Smith, bringing the Cornish coastline to Lower Barns! He also had a stunning buttonhole of locally foraged ‘hedgerow’ flowers from the beautifully talented Loulabel. Finally, he brought everything together with a Tudor dress watch.
Favourite part of the day
This was a hard choice for this wonderful couple because everything was just perfectly magical. However, for Amy, it was the moment when Rich saw her coming down the aisle, this is something she will never forget.
And for Rich...yep you got it, he too chooses the moment when he caught that first glimpse of Amy in her dress and it brought tears to his eyes!
"Being able to say ‘I do’ a place we love, surrounded by our nearest and dearest was truly special."
Top Tip for brides
"Brides remember it is your day - plan the day you and your future husband want!
Delegate jobs to others when planning. We couldn’t have done everything without the help of our family and it meant they got to be involved with the planning process.
Do take time over the little details - these are what make your day unique! Enjoy every second - not everything will go to plan, but it will still be perfect!"
Top Tip for grooms
"Grooms don’t forget to enjoy yourself - this may sound obvious but it’s very easy to ‘sweat the small stuff’ and actually forget to have fun!
Also, make some time to spend alone with your bride. Take a step back to reflect and enjoy the magical moment of being ‘newlyweds’ - go for a walk together around your venue, talk to each other about the day and savour each other’s company."
