How to hold a safer wedding or civil partnership during Covid
Although most legal restrictions have been lifted the pandemic is unfortunately far from over so what can you do to make the best of the situation on your special day?
Luckily The UK Wedding Taskforce has worked alongside Government to prepare a risk matrix to help you to plan and have your weddings safely during covid. It’s full of good advice on how to stay as safe as possible.
There are steps that you and your guests can take to mitigate the risks associated with weddings, civil partnership ceremonies, receptions and celebrations. Here at eeek! HQ we recommend that you follow their guidelines to keep yourselves, your guests and your suppliers as safe as you possibly can. You can read and download the matrix here.
For couples soon to be married and a little nervous about their day and the guidelines, we would like to say don’t be!
We have so many stories from couples who married during restrictions and all had a fabulous day.
Rosie and Ryan and THE BENEFITS OF A WEDDING CO-ORDINATOR…
“Hazel from Out of The Ordinary Weddings & Events made our day run smoothly and also safely by adhering to Covid guidelines.
She was there organising seating, room changes, letting me and Ryan know every little detail the morning of the big day. Nothing was too big of an ask for Hazel, having her co-ordinating our wedding was the ‘bestest’ thing ever…she literally made the day run without a hitch.
In today’s world nothing is ‘normal’
Covid could still be around for a while yet, so my advice would be – grab the bull by the horns and get married while you can, life is too short. Marry now party later!!! The day goes far too quickly, we would do anything to do it all again and finally, make sure you spend some time together just the two of you to catch up and take it all in.”

Becky and Ross From Cambridgeshire to Cornwall!
Becky and Ross had been planning their wedding for two years.
A large homespun Tipi wedding for around one hundred and fifty guests at the family farm in Cambridgeshire. Then COVID struck and they moved their dates from June to September 2020. Come September the stress of postponing again was not an option for this couple.
With only six weeks to go until the day they downsized their extensive guest list to only eighteen and moved their Cambridgeshire wedding to Cornwall for an intimate wedding at The Rosevine
“I honestly couldn’t pick my favourite part of the day the most emotional part was having my dad hold my arm as I walked down the aisle after a year of stress and drama and realising it had all been worth it. Having the sunshine on us and getting married overlooking the sea surrounded by stunning gardens was nothing like what we originally planned but was a blessing in disguise.
Just eighteen people meant we really got to focus on everyone there and they were there the whole weekend, so we got so much quality time together.
Everyone went walking, swimming had breakfast together. It wasn’t a wedding, it was quality time with our friends and family in which we happened to get married. We realised we got caught up in a big wedding and when it all got taken away from us due to COVID, it turned out it wasn’t the right thing for us anyway.”

Amy and Darren 110 guests to 30
It felt like we were one huge family.
Although Amy and Darren only had 30 of their loved ones with them they really enjoyed it and were able to speak with everyone
We had a really quiet and chilled evening with a lovely buffet, our music playing over the speakers from a Spotify playlist and candles lit all around the venue.
Trevanna lit the log fires and made the evening so cosy. A beautifully calm end to the day.
