Nancarrow Farm Stephanie and Ryan

It had to be a barn wedding...

“I’d always wanted a barn wedding and Nancarrow Farm just fitted what I had in my head perfectly! It was the only venue we visited and we just fell in love.”

Stephanie knew even before they visited that Nancarrow Farm was the place. Both loved that there were two separate spaces, the rusty barn where they would have the ceremony and then the main barn for their reception. Stephanie could visualise the ‘dreamy’ courtyard filled with music and people. The accommodation was a bonus. It was perfect!

David Bertie Photography

“When I read on his website ‘there’s a strong chance he’ll climb a tree’ I just knew he was the man for us!!”

Stephanie and Ryan loved his relaxed and natural style and he made them feel relaxed.

“We didn’t want to spend hours standing around having posed pictures. He has worked with Kirsten Prisk for years who's photography is amazing so that was good enough endorsement for me!”

theme

“Our theme was just a relaxed, rustic and natural vibe, to fit in with the venue”

Stephanie had visions of a courtyard filled with fiddle music, flowers that looked like they had been picked from the garden that morning, good hearty food and lots of fun and games.

“We didn’t want a formal hotel wedding, just a big old party”

Wheal Sara Flowers...Stephanie’s sister!

“Even if she weren’t though, to me she is just the best. I really left it all up to her and just gave a loose idea of what I wanted and she sure delivered! The milk churn display and the registrar’s table and our top table displays were just amazing. Ryan’s only input was that he wanted some wheat in the flowers (much to my initial horror.. (wait, you want what, wheat?!) Wheat was incorporated perfectly into the buttonholes.

Dove Films

“Our videographer Joel of Dove Films really stood out!”

Stephanie had been working on Ryan for about a year to book a videographer and one day he just gave in and booked Dove Films!

“Joel was like a ninja capturing all of the day without us really noticing he was there. My husband now says it’s the best thing he did and he loves the video just as much as the photos”

A surprise Mustang

Stephanie arranged a surprise Mustang to take Ryan his best man and ushers for a spin the morning of the wedding.

“Must Hire Mustang were great! Even with all of my obsessive questions and planning!”

The Dress

“I wore a Lace Dress from The Signature Collection and a veil by Maggie Sottero”

The Suits

Ryan and his party wore blue three-piece suits and brown brogues by Moss Bros.

Accessories

Stephanie wore a pearl necklace which belonged to her late Nan which she had worn on her wedding day and her other late Nan’s signet ring was tied onto her bouquet. It was very important to Stephanie to include them.

“My shoes were my something blue by Rachel Simpson which my husband bought for me (but didn’t see!)”

Ryan also bought Stephanie Tiffany pearl earrings to match her necklace as a surprise gift the morning of the wedding. The men accessorised with various superhero cufflinks, Ryan chose his favourite superhero iron man!

Favourite part

“It’s hard to pick a favourite part of the day as it all went so quickly and I genuinely enjoyed every minute. It’s got to be though that moment waiting with my dad, my best friends and my flower girl daughter and nieces, waiting for the big rusty barn doors to open and hearing the music start.

Ryan felt the same but from the inside. As soon as those big doors were closed. He said looking back and watching our two-year-old daughter heading in and spotting me peering around the side of them all to watch her walk-in was so emotional. The daddy-daughter hug at the top of the aisle hit everyone!

We loved dancing the night away and at one point taking a step back just for a second and watching all of our friends and family dancing and saying, we did that!”

Top tip

“Don’t leave it until a week before the wedding to do things like hand stamping 100 name place settings when you’ve known for months who was coming!”
