Cosawes Barton Rosie and Ryan

a small intimate wedding in Cornwall

Rosie and Ryan had booked a venue in the Midlands it's where they are from. Still, after a few months, they decided it really wasn't what they wanted, they didn't even want to get married in the Midlands! Instead, they wanted a small intimate wedding in Cornwall.

"Cornwall is so important to us as it was our first holiday together as a couple and also where Ryan popped the question!"

Rosie found Cosawes Barton via Google and fell in love with the venue straight away.

"It was perfect! 5-star luxury accommodation for our guests and a beautiful intimate barn style room for the ceremony, not to mention the oodles of land and the surroundings. When we first visited the venue in November 2019, it was just what we had envisioned. The venue owners Andy and Louise Bishop live on-site, they are kind, caring and so helpful. They honestly will do anything to make sure you have the best time."

Thomas Frost Photography "WOW did he fit the bill!"

For their photography, Rosie and Ryan will admit they were quite fussy. Wanting it to be natural, something a little different, they were delighted when they discovered Thomas Frost.

"Thomas listened to what we wanted and talked through the little details with us before their big day. And when it came to the day, he literally was just like a chameleon. He was so friendly and took the most stunning photos and also a short cinematic highlight video. Our memories will be with us forever, but in years and years to come when they fade a little we have the most gorgeous set of photos to look back on."

The theme for the day was relaxed or 'perfectly imperfect'

The theme included wild, untamed florals by the very talented Lisa of Down by the River Florals. They were blown away by her creations! Mix 'n' match brass candlesticks with small vintage glass votives sitting on a burgundy cheesecloth table runner and pink candles, lots of candles.

"We wanted it to be perfectly imperfect."

one special mention for Stacey Louise Mua

All their suppliers were incredible, but Rosie does have one special mention, and that's for Stacey-Louise MUA. Rosie has acne-prone skin, which is extremely textured and scarred. She was so concerned about her makeup, Stacey knew this.

"On the day I looked flawless, my skin has never looked so good, and Stacey really took the time to get it right as she knew how wary I was about my skin. She gave me the biggest confidence boost on the day!"

The many benefits of a wedding co-ordinator...

"Hazel co-ordinating our wedding was the 'bestest' thing ever...she literally made the day run without a hitch. She was there organising seating, room changes, letting me and Ryan know every little detail the morning of the big day. Nothing was too big of an ask for Hazel, she did everything she possibly could to make our day run smoothly and also safely by adhering to Covid guidelines."

The Wedding Breakfast

Indulgence Catering created their delicious wedding breakfast. On the menu roast beef and turkey dinner with all the trimmings and for dessert a trio of mini desserts White Choc and Raspberry Bread and Butter Pudding, Passionfruit Cheesecake and Chocolate Brownies.

"For the main, we had all the trimmings you could imagine (and the most incredible cheesy cauliflower) it was to die for, and everyone absolutely loved it!!! Our puddings were incredible, especially the cheesecake...Rebecca and Robin were absolutely amazing, and we couldn't recommend them enough!"

The dress

Rosie wore a Melissa Sweet gown, she had previously brought another gown, a stunning Christina Wu Mikado ballgown with a cathedral length train. She loved it but didn't feel herself in it...

"It was basically a big gown trying to distract from the fact that I have a fuller figure."

On the off chance, Laura Rosie's best friend and bridesmaid popped into David's Bridal looking for a dress a bit less 'poofy'. Laura suggested that Rosie should try a fitted lace gown rather than the A-Line gowns she had been trying.

"The sales assistant brought out my dress, and I laughed explaining it looked like a net curtain. I put it on, and my jaw dropped, I looked and felt incredible. The dress took me in at all the right places and gave me a stunning hourglass figure. It was far too much over my small budget, so I called my now husband and asked him if I could use some savings we had... he said yes. It was amazing and fitted in with the relaxed vibe we wanted."

Accessories

Rosie wore a gorgeous custom headpiece by Blushing Flamingos and also a custom tulle veil from Blossom and Bluebird on Etsy.

The Groom

Ryan wore a Twisted Tailor tuxedo in black paired with a fitted French Connection shirt and ASOS brogues.

"The Twisted Tailor suits are stunning, amazing quality and also have quirky little touches that make them that little bit different. I have to say he looked extremely handsome!!"

Favourite part of the day

"For me, it may seem cliche, but it really was seeing my husband as I walked down the aisle, my heart has never felt so full with love and gratitude...and with all the negativity and uncertainty 2020 has brought it really hit home in that moment that we had finally made it and was about to become husband and wife...Covid or not. My husband agrees...it was a long time coming and we were so happy to finally tie the knot."

Advice

"In today's world nothing is 'normal' Covid could still be around for a while yet, so my advice would be - grab the bull by the horns and get married while you can, life is too short. Marry now party later!!! The day goes far too quickly, we would do anything to do it all again and finally, make sure you spend some time together just the two of you to catch up and take it all in."
