Cornwall Marquee Venue Sarah and Nick
Sarah and Nick knew they wanted to get married overlooking the sea, and local to where they have now settled in Cornwall, so the Cornwall Marque Venue was just perfect.
The couples day guests travelled from various UK locations and even Australia, so Sarah and Nick wanted them to see what had made them fall in love with Cornwall, and there was no better place to hold their special day than where they had first holidayed. The chosen location also made it very easy for the local friends to attend!
Sarah and Nick chose their local pub The Anvil Pub and Restaurant, Cubert as their wedding caterers. The Anvil actually closed their doors to help create their special day!
Their photographer was Stewart Girvan; Sarah and Nick are fans of Stewart Girvan’s landscape photography, and having met him even prior to setting a date, he was the obvious choice for them. His relaxed non-intrusive style suited them and they knew he would capture the moments perfectly.
Their wedding theme was London meets Cornwall, with a smart coastal and navy look. Having lived in London Sarah and Nick are massive fans of the route-master buses and cabs.
"Our best man used to drive a route-master bus, it made perfect sense to hire one to take the guests from the hotel to the venue. We both arrived in a black cab."
Sarah and Nick selected all their suppliers to be part of a team, it was important that they had all the right people around them on the day to ensure the day went smoothly.
The styling included table name cards designed by a local artist, the style worked perfectly with their coastal theme of starfishes and lanterns and fairy lights. A lot of fairy lights!! On the day Sam from Stargazey provided on the ground support and also ensured that the marquee looked amazing!
"We made contact with Sam at Stargazey beforehand and arranged to met her at a wedding fair, having briefly explained what we had in mind. We immediately felt that we wanted her onboard to help with the finer detail and support before the wedding and on the day. We arrived to find she had captured the brief perfectly!"
Nicola from the Cornish Celebrants, not only conducted the ceremony but also looked after the family and the guests prior to arrival. A great team of suppliers equals great teamwork.
Music was a big part of the day and Adam Parfitt at Cyderfex entertained the guests with an acoustic set, then later he rocked it up.
Harrison at HB audio provided them with the perfect sound and lighting, they had chosen a very special song to play as they walked down the aisle, and this had to create a big impact! It was perfect.
Their guest Ian Belsey wrote a bespoke song for them and sang it on the day. "It was a wonderful kind gesture to have Ian who is not only our very good friend but also a happens to be a professional singer, sing for us on our special day".
The Dress No lace! At the time lace was very in fashion. "A few people thought I was a little crazy when I said I didn’t want lace just a plain and simple dress. It proved hard to find the perfect one but I did a beautiful Justin Alexander dress. Who’d of thought plain dresses are now at the height of fashion for bridal wear."
To go with the dress Sarah chose a hair vine, and flowers, sparkly platform heels, navy wedge flip flops to change into in the evening for dancing. Weaved into her hair were white roses to give a rustic but classic feel.
Sarah and Nick wanted the day to be a treat for the guests just as much as themselves. "Our favourite part of the day was when we sat down and looked around us seeing what a wonderful day we had created. The room was full of love and everyone was enjoying themselves – the atmosphere was amazing. Just listening to our favourite songs with our friends and family and soaking up the atmosphere was the best part"
The huge surprise for Sarah and Nick was when their Best Man Andy told them to go outside and there was a pyrotechnic plane drawing firework hearts in the sky! "There was a lot of speculation in the area about the plane... well I guess now people know! What a wonderful wedding gift from our fantastic best man Andy"
Top Tips "It's easier to do little and often and not leave things to the last minute, also have the right people around you that you trust to do the job then you will have a relaxed day. Have the mindset that whatever happens on the day is fine.
Finally, if you like dancing and you are the bride – change into some sparkly flip flops on in the evening for dancing – you are amongst your friends and family – Enjoy yourself!"
