Chycara Barn Wedding Emily and Kieran

Chycara the perfect venue

Emily and Kieran chose Chycara because they both loved the feel of the venue and the beautiful gardens and grounds. The rustic romantic wedding barn has fabulous high ceilings and comes complete with twinkling fairy lights. It really was the perfect place close to home and also to St Piran's Church, Perranarworthal, where they got married.

PINK WAVE PHOTOGRAPHY

Emily and Kieran loved their work; their style of wedding photography was exactly what they had envisioned. Tom and Amber really understood how awkward it was for Kieran to have his photo taken and put his mind at ease.

"They made us both feel so comfortable! It also helped when they reassured us that the photos would be as natural as possible! Pink Wave Photography are also a new business, and we like to support new local businesses!"

NATURAL AND MINIMALISTIC

With a natural theme, their colour scheme was sage green, white and gold. The natural green shade brought the outside in.

"We didn't want anything too over the top and love the minimalistic approach. We loved the sage green colours; it worked perfectly with Chycara's stunning gardens."

big foodies…

Emily and Kieran, although big foodies, do have some allergies. Dealing with professional wedding caterers and cake makers who are confident about allergies was important. They chose Jamie Beetham and BB's Gluten-Free Bakery. Coeliac approved and great when dealing with dairy allergies. Perfect.

Jamie Beetham

"We went with Jamie Beetham as we needed both the catering and also the serving staff for the day. We both love paella and also Steak, so we had to have these on the menu! We went for a taster after we had booked Jamie, and honestly, we left with our top button undone on our jeans and excited to eat his food again on our wedding day."

STARTER Canapés

"We decided to have welcome Canapés as starters - so everyone had around 10-12 each. This worked perfectly! It's always a little bit of a wait until food, so we wanted to make sure people were happy whilst waiting to sit down.

The food was so delicious, and the staff went above and beyond, in our opinion. The welcome drinks and canapés were flowing, and the head waiter made sure both Kieran and I had everything we wanted and kept offering us drinks, so we didn't need to get up!"

THE WEDDING CAKE - BBS Gluten-Free Bakery

A piece of art AND a mouthwatering 'wanting more cake!'

The flavours were Cherry Bakewell, Lemon and Chocolate. Emily and Kieran also decided to have the wedding cake as the dessert, a cost-saving idea, but it also meant that everyone did get to taste the cake.

"Everyone I have spoken to since the wedding has mentioned the food and how tasty it was, especially the cake!"

Riverside Flowers

Angie designed EXACTLY what Emily had envisioned!

"The size was perfect, the smell was stunning, and the church flowers were brilliant as they then doubled as our table decorations!"

THE DRESS

Emily will admit she made a mistake (possibly) of going dress shopping 6 weeks postpartum. She hadn't given herself time to get used to her new body!

"I had been to a few different shops and hadn't found anything I liked. I then found a dress I loved, so I put a deposit down. I just had this feeling in my gut that it wasn't right. I never felt that 'wow' moment you always hear about. I popped back into The Bridal House of Cornwall with my maid of honour to look at bridesmaid dresses and saw a dress in the window. It was THE ONE!

I tried it on, and that was it.. they had to basically bribe me (with a glass of Prosecco) to take it off. I had my 'wow' moment I had always heard brides get when they find 'the dress'.

I love that it has an overskirt - it gave me that breathtaking princess moment walking down the church aisle I always dreamed of, but also it then gave me the dancing all night and figure-hugging outfit I could move in! It really was the most perfect dress!!!"

Accessories

Emily wore her late Grandmothers diamond and sapphire necklace her something old and something blue, a lovely tennis bracelet from her parents for her 25th Birthday, a bracelet from her Maid of Honour complete with the wedding date. Kieran wore his birthday cufflinks, a present from their son. And finally, both bought each other a gift to open on the morning of the wedding. Emily received a lovely new pair of diamond and sapphire earrings, and Kieran received a tie clip.

THE double-breasted waistcoat!

Kieran wore a grey suit with a Clementine check from Moss Bros. He rocked it! And what he loved the most about the suit - the double-breasted waistcoat!

Favourite part of the day

"We both said the first dance. All-day, we felt like we had to do something or be somewhere, but at that moment, it felt like it was just us on our own dancing to John Legend Stay with Me sung by our Band. Neither of us noticed anyone watching us, and it was our time to just be close and have a moment and a chat and just relax!"

Advice for other couples

"Just relax, don't stress as on the morning of the wedding day you can't do anything else! All that matters is the moment you so 'I do' and become husband and wife! The music at the church was wrong, and songs didn't play, adverts then came on, and our leaving song started partway through… but oh well!!! I was really annoyed in the morning that it was raining (I mean, this was entirely out of my control), but make sure you have some umbrellas, and it's fine - it's one of those things, and it didn't affect it that much at all!

Make sure you have a good Best Man and Maid of Honour so they can deal with any issues on the day; we owe ours a lot of drinks, to say the least… Leo (our 1-year-old son) was really poorly on our wedding day as he had a reaction to his 1st-year jabs, so his trunk was covered in a rash - but after a quick phone call to 111 and some medicine, the Best Man kept me informed of everything until I got Leo before lunch. Again we probably haven't had photos of a happy Leo, which I would have loved, but really that's not the end of the world, and you just have to accept that not everything is going to be perfect and just enjoy the memories you will make!
