Brickhouse Vineyard Gemma and Steve

an intimate wedding at Brickhouse Vineyard

Gemma and Steve chose Brickhouse Vineyard because of its rustic intimacy and classic vibe. They had been really struggling to find a small venue that still felt special and would also allow them to tailor the day to what they wanted including having their four-legged friend Rupert able to join in on the day.

“As soon as we arrived at Brickhouse and met Joanna we fell in love and knew it was the venue for us.”

Both wanted a small intimate wedding to celebrate with their family, an unfussy day with good food, a day that would include everyone and the Brickhouse Vineyard suited their requirements perfectly.

Mimosa photography

Joanna helped the couple chose their photographer, recommending three great photographers to look at they fell for Mimosa photography. They loved Megs simple, romantic style that also looked so natural.

“She captured the unposed simple, romantic style that we were looking for and on the day Meg fitted in perfectly and we barely knew she was taking pictures.”

Theme romantic vintage

Gemma and Steve chose a theme they called ‘romantic and vintage’ it’s a style Gemma loves. It was all about what’s important to them, their little family, good food, sociable and relaxed.

The dream team! Brickhouse Vineyard and Poppy’s Weddings

Joanna arranged the flowers for the day Gemma simply sent a picture of the style she wanted and the rest was down to Joanna and Poppy’s Weddings.

“It was a great surprise and Poppy’s Weddings did an amazing job, I loved them. Everyone who worked with us both in the run-up to and on the day itself were amazing.”

Gemma will say that Joanna stole the show, from the day they met nothing was too much trouble, she sometimes forgot she was planning a wedding Joanna simply took all the stress out of it and they couldn’t have asked for more.

A Wedding Feast by
Titley Green

“The food was by Titley Green who were so helpful from day one.”

Titley Green were very happy to create a bespoke menu for one of the guests, a gluten-free meal which she loved!

“The staff serving our canapés and afternoon tea where so friendly and couldn’t do more for us. The food was incredible and tasted amazing.”

something a little different Wedding Day Wine tasting!

To add something a little different to the day Joanna did a wine tasting for the newlyweds and their wedding party which everyone loved it gave the day a really special touch.

“When we found Brickhouse Vineyard we knew we would love to incorporate the vineyard into the day. It was a great way for us to do something as a family and the wine tasting proved to be a real hit.”

the dress

Gemma's dress was by Brighton Belle, a designer she has loved for ages. Bought pre-owned it’s true vintage Gemma wanted something that still felt like a wedding dress without it being too big or too much.

“I got my dress pre-owned and had alterations done at Amica boutique who were amazing. I loved the lace but enjoyed it being a bit shorter so that I could wear some lovely vintage Joe Brown shoes to add a flash of colour. My dress was perfect, it gave me curves and felt very feminine which I loved.

I wore mint green Joe Brown shoes and had a silk flower comb added to my hair. This was from Hidden Botanics which I found on Etsy. This again just added a splash of colour.

Rupert the dog and custom designed Vans

Our dog Rupert got a new harness, lead and bow tie by Hugo and Hudson so that he matched my husbands bow tie and our bridesmaid custom-designed her Vans to add a fun touch to her dress.

Favourite part of the day

“We really can’t pick a favourite part of the day and I’m sure most couples say the whole day was perfect but it really was. We had four hours at our venue and it was all amazing. It was great to see our families relax and enjoy some downtime with us.

My grandfather did our wedding blessing which again just made the whole thing feel so personal and intimate. We could have been anywhere is the world and felt totally lost in our venue. We simply could not have asked for more.”

top tips

“Our biggest tip would be to do what’s right for you! There is nothing wrong with wanting a big white wedding or something simple and intimate as long as it’s what works for you.

Decide what’s important to you as a couple and then go from there. If it’s all about the venue do that first and the rest will follow, if it’s about the dress, chose that before you do anything else. Everything will fit together. Just do you and don’t be afraid to say no I don’t want that.

Brickhouse and Joanna were amazing and I would love to find more excuses to have more events there as it was perfect!”
