The Rosevine Becky and Ross
The Rosevine Hotel really caught Becky's eye
Becky and Ross had been planning their wedding for two years, a large homespun Tipi wedding for around one hundred and fifty guests at the family farm in Cambridgeshire. Then COVID struck, and they postponed from June to September 2020.
Postpone again?
The stress of postponing again was not an option. Heartbroken and totally fed up with the situation and with only six weeks to go, Becky started planning again but this time to create an intimate wedding that was not a disappointing version of what she had planned but something completely different.
Becky and Ross have holidayed in Cornwall and decided to research venues in the area and found The Rosevine Hotel.
"I saw The Rosevine Hotel online, with its stunning views, the beautiful gardens and old school country house vibe it really caught my eye."
It was meant to be! The wedding that was booked on their chosen date had postponed due to COVID, and the hotel was free! They decided to go for it and get their date booked.
"I cannot rave about the event manager Jasmine enough..."
She helped me get everything sorted with such a short time frame, and she was a rock throughout. Even with the constant COVID updates adjusting the plans. We only had eighteen people, but with all the issues with COVID and stress and disappointment of our big wedding this actually turned out to be the perfect number."
Becky had only five weeks to find all her suppliers!
She began with finding the perfect photographer wanting something different, an alternative vibe for their wedding day photos; they were delighted when they discovered Ben Selway.
Ben Selway Photography
"Ben had a very alternative vibe which wasn't posed and was very artistic using natural light to create beautiful pictures. We didn't want everyone stood in rows having generic pictures we just wanted the occasion itself captured. He got it spot-on."
Stacey Louise MUA
Becky will happily admit that she is fussy about her makeup and living out of county (seven hours away by car) was unable to have a makeup trial before the big day.
"Oh wow did Stacey get it right! She understood exactly what I wanted and made my makeup glow! It was the perfect balance of glamour and not being excessive. My bridesmaids also had such gorgeous looks. I would highly recommend her."
Hair by Emma C
Having had two trials with different people for her original wedding and not getting what she wanted, she did feel sorry for Emma when she phoned!
Having long and very very thick hair, the small elegant bun Becky wanted wasn't going to work!
"Emma was the first hairstylist, to be honest with me about what could be achieved with my hair...
We looked at options, and I decided to have my hair down and in waves. In the end, it actually suited the wedding better with my boho dress and the pictures on the beach, and it did not become a mess! It moved with the breeze and fell back perfectly. My bridesmaids and Mum had updos which stayed in all night my aunt had her hair styled too. Every single person loved their hair, and I had so many compliments."
The Garden Gate Flower Company
"Rebecca was so sweet, and I loved her ethos that everything was grown in the UK and not imported. I wanted wild, free and unstructured arrangements and I got just that. All in little vases under her Petite Weddings package, so all my girls got an arrangement to take back."
Emily Hankins Cakes
Emily is well-known in Cornwall and across the UK for her hand-painted cakes, so she was the perfect choice for Becky, who already had a design for her wedding cake in mind.
"I wanted a hand-painted silhouette of my partner myself and dog with greenery".
Not wanting the traditional fruit cake, Emily surprised them with a lemon cake with passion fruit curd and white chocolate ganache.
"It was incredible!!!!! Everyone commented on how delicious it was."
The dress
Becky had tried on so many dresses at different boutique's but just couldn't find anything that was 'her' then she discovered dress designer Rolling in Roses in a boutique in London called Heart A Flutter. It was a simple, high neck crepe dress on a bias cut with floaty sleeves that were off the shoulder. She also liked that their dresses have sustainability at the heart and use only vegan silk!
"I'm not a girly girl, I don't like glitter or tulle, but this designer makes the most simple, elegant and quirky dresses."
The groom
Ross wore a suit from Burton and a green tweed waistcoat while the groomsmen wore blue to make the groom stand out.
Accessories
Becky wore a bespoke veil made by Sash detailed with real dried flowers and the initials of both sets of her grandparents, who were unable to attend. She also wore handmade earrings by Joanna Reid Bridal and her grandmother's ring.
Harley The ring bearer
The most entertaining part of their day was having their beautiful black Labrador Harley as their ring bearer. The rings were tied to the flower crown he wore around his neck a flower crown by Luna & Wild.
"Having him at the front of the aisle with us was so important to us."
The Wedding Feast
They chose to provide their guests with a wide range of choices by selecting the whole hotel menu! There was so much to choose from seafood risotto, fish and chips, pork belly, duck leg, and so much more. And for the bride? She chose scallops and steak. Fabulous choice.
"The food at this hotel is something else! So good."
Scenic Route
Becky and Ross booked Scenic Route one week before the wedding they didn't tell anyone wanting it to be a surprise for their guests.
"They just made the day! They added a chilled acoustic vibe and played our ceremony and for an hour after the meal, and due to COVID rules we couldn't party, but everyone was dancing in their seats having the best time! Amazing musicians and a really lovely couple.
Favourite part of the day
"I honestly couldn't pick my favourite part of the day the most emotional part was having my dad hold my arm as I walked down the aisle after a year of stress and drama and realising it had all been worth it. Having the sunshine on us and getting married overlooking the sea surrounded by stunning gardens was nothing like what we originally planned but was a blessing in disguise.
Just eighteen people meant we really got to focus on everyone there and they were there the whole weekend, so we got so much quality time together. Everyone went walking, swimming had breakfast together. It wasn't a wedding, it was quality time with our friends and family in which we happened to get married. We realised we got caught up in a big wedding and when it all got taken away from us due to COVID, it turned out it wasn't the right thing for us anyway.
Oh, and the majority of the wedding guests going swimming in the sea with our Labrador made for a pretty cool story."
